Henri & Gilles Buisson
Review
Notes of pear, hazelnuts, pastry cream and smoke introduce the 2020 Saint-Romain Le Jarron, a medium-bodied, satiny wine with a fleshy core of fruit, racy acids and a saline finish. It's especially charming and precise this year. 89/100 William Kelley
Franck and Frédérick Buisson continue to establish themselves as the reference point for Saint-Romain. This 19-hectare domaine has been estate bottling since the late 1940s and farming organically since the 1970s. White grapes are sorted, crushed and pressed for two and a half hours, and musts are barreled down with minimal settling. Reds see a gentle extract. The result is elegantly textural, chiseled wines that can age very well but are also hard to resist young. In ever warmer vintages, these wines seem to go from strength to strength, and everything here comes warmly recommended.
